A new set of rules for the equestrian sport are to be decided on the International Equestrian Federations General Assembly in Copenhagen this week. Several royalties will participate in the Assembly. The most anticipated and important discussion that will take place in Copenhagen this week will undoubtedly be the session on Equestrian as a clean sport. This could help set out the direction for the future of Equestrian sport. In many other sports doping has continued to be a big problem but as opposed to the other sports, not only the athletes, but also the horses are subjects of medical doping. A new set of rules are important for eliminating the doping problems especially in Europe and to avoid doping cases as was seen at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 but also to insure the welfare of the horses. The new set of rules will be in function before The Olympics in London 2012. Throughout the years, the equestrian sport has traditionally attracted the higher strata of society. Consistently, the International Equestrian Federation, FEI, counts several princesses and lords when they meet on 16 22 November 2009 in Copenhagen. A glance at the participation list proves a number of highly distinguished guests just to mention a few; Danish Princess Nathalie, Olympic Bronze medal winner in Beijing 2008, and obviously the FEI president, Princess Haya of Jordan. As FEI president, Princess Haya has a huge responsibility for ensuring a new set of doping rules. The Danish Princess Nathalie welcomes FEI new initiative for a more clean sport.
