The Chandala makes Shankara realize that the Self ( Truth ) is all pervading but the gross (Body) is transient. Through this episode, Shankara realizes the main essence of the non-dual Advaita philosophy. Shankara is ashamed and perceives this divine incident and falls at the chandala's feet.
