No actualy, 4449's airhorn was used for the coastal fog in the old days.

Both locomotives sport a Leslie A200-156 air horn. In the case of the 4449 it's used as a backup.

Was this before or after the Golden Gate Railroad Museum moved here?
UberNoobtard (August 21st, 2009 @ 7:12 am)
that's because it is the horn on the 4449
ThomasRivette (August 20th, 2009 @ 5:19 am)
That horn sounds just like the horn on the 4449.

Love that A-200! The Soo Line FP7 2500 at the North Shore Scenic Railroad has an A-200, and a bunch of switchers at the nearby Rices Point Yard still have A-200 horns on them.

I prefer locomotive horns to be at least 2 notes or more. A one-note horn sounds more like a ship's horn.

I thought it was a Leslie!

Long live the Leslie A200!

The WABCO E-2 was made after the Leslie A-200, which was a honker.
HarveyHenkelmann (May 2nd, 2009 @ 6:58 pm)
Both Leslie and Westinghouse made the single-note 'honkers'. Leslie offered the A200-156, which is heard in this clip, and Westinghouse had their model E2.
