More British boys committed suicide on their return from the Falklands than were lost in the battle itself. Its legacy lives on to this day in the soldiers who upon their return did not receive the appropriate care. If we are allegedly fighting for the preservation of our country and what we believe in, then we should treat our own people, and the people who literally put their necks on the line appropriately and not discard them like useless tools when they no longer serve a military purpose.

both of you are wrong. the previous governments wre trying to do a leaseback agreement which would have meant Argentine sovereignty,w ith certain terms, which would have been lost after a few years. However Thatcher also made many blunders that caused the war. Noone is completely right or wrong

Although I do not agree with all of Mrs. Thatchers political views and ideas I still think she is an outstanding politician. I wish we had more people like her who stay true to their point of view, regardless to which political party they belong. Just look at our pathetic German chancellor, Mrs. Merkel... Margaret Thatcher owns her a hundred times. And about the discussion of guilt... I think every country has had enough blood in its history, it's time we try and do it better in the future.

I wouldn't argue with that particular point of view.

Previous governments had prevented this 'theft' silently.
Allowing a well documented & understood threat escalate into a war that cost £1.2Bn and a thousand lives is not self respect.

It may be of use as a static aircraft carrier one day, we can't predict the future and we should hold on to what is ours, we don't know when it might be of any use.
Would you let someone rob you? even if it was a small amount..Self respect is at stake.

It's not rhetoric, it's true - they were called the Nuremburg Trials - I'm glad you agree fighting unjust war obscene after all - Justice Jackson observed what one refuses to do can be more important than blind obedience as Goering & Hess found out.
Not so sure about the armchair warrior - sounds like projection to me.
