absolutely fantastic. charles is by far my favorite actor of all time. he captivates me every time i see him on screen. elsa is equally as brilliant. her voice is so distinctive. funnily enough, my first exposure to her was as a young child in "i love lucy" as the serial murderess on the trip from new york to florida.

Yes- they WERE still close. Elsa & Charles were close friends with my Dad & Grandmother. I have too many stories to believe otherwise. Oh- what stories I have heard! They all went on several vacations together- Elsa & Charles, my Dad & Grandma. Enough said.

Who is claiming Laughton was a pedophile? That is insane. And he and Elsa did NOT lead separate lives after they married. Yes, he led a closeted gay existence, which she knew about and didn't care about. But they were close friends and got along reasonably well together. They did not lead separate lives.

Just watched Witness For The Prosecution again, what a great movie, two of film's great talents. She played a memorable villianess in an early Man From UNCLE episode.
