What a fantastic resource! This wonderful claymation helps to make Plato's sometimes esoteric theses tangible and real. By taking his knowledge and making it better known and more real, this work is special in its aim and perfect in its realisation.

this is really cool. we watched this video in my world literature class. i'm writing an essay on the allegory now and how it compares to lois lowry's "the giver."

This is obviously about a sense of reality, and how it is not possible to see true reality. No person can truly understand reality because to understand you'd have to experience every point of view, and experience everyone's experiences in the entire world, and no human can do that.

i think this is about how ignorant we are. we or most are so ignorant that we can only see whats infront of our faces rather than realizing what we dont see. So when we are shown or proven the realities we think that they are probly not true because all that we've ever known was that of before.

It's about Plato's theory of forms. Basically, he believed that everything in our universe is an imperfect replica (or shadow) of it's 'form' in the seperate world of the forms.

i think its about reality. meaning the prisoners think that the shadows is the reality but it's not. the world is reality but they dont know that

It's a comparison between two levels of perception - one of the lowest and one of the highest. The lowest level of perception is based on the shadow of truth and distorted information and the highest is based on something closer to the truth and clear information. And this story proposes what would happen if someone from the lowest level of perception were to awaken to a higher. The awakened would know longer be recognized by his former friends. His reality would be dismissed.

So just because you can't see it doesn't mean its not real.
